Workshop 2: Case Study - Thames View Infant School

Paul is the CEO of TVI learning and in his 17th year of headship at Thames View Infants/TVI Learning, a vibrant and large 4fe Infant School, located within the most deprived ward of the 10th most deprived local authority nationally (Barking and Dagenham).

The demographic is characterised by significantly higher than national averages for ethnicity (84% EAL - 41 languages), SEND (25%), the Disadvantaged, and Vulnerable families living in poverty and social chaos.

Championing “parents as partners”, the Trust works hard to help every child and their family achieve their best. Paul is passionate about the benefits of all children receiving a delicious and nutritional School Dinner. Throughout the curriculum and the wider School, food is valued as an important catalyst to connect and bring families together. 100% of children receive the Infant Meal uptake at TVI - a result of careful work to understand and overcome barriers to food phobias, anxieties and traditional – and inherited - dispositions to food. Aspiring to be thrice-Outstanding, children leave TVI exceptionally well-prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.
